Lymph Drainage (show details)

30 or 60 minutes; $50.00 or 70.00

Manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) is a type of gentle massage which is intended by proponents to encourage the natural circulation of the lymph through the body. The lymph system depends on peristalsis and the movement of skeletal muscles to squeeze fluid through lymph ducts and vessels.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage was pioneered by Dr. Emil Vodder in the 1930s for the treatment of chronic sinusitis and other immune disorders. While working on the French Riviera treating patients with chronic colds, they noticed these patients had swollen lymph nodes.

In the 1930s it was considered taboo to tamper with the lymphatic system due to the medical profession's poor understanding of this system. The Vodders were not deterred by this, and in 1932 began to study the lymph system, and developed careful hand movements to cause lymph movement. In 1936 after four years of research they introduced this technique in Paris, France.

It is now recognized as a primary tool in Lymphedema management. Therapists can today receive certification through special classes conducted by various organizations specializing in MLD.

Raindrop Therapy (show details)
1 hour; $75.00

Raindrop Therapy uses a sequence of nine highly anti-microbial essential oils dropped gently on the spine and then lightly massaged in using various hand to body techniques. Heat application is also used. Many types of spinal misalignments are caused by viruses and bacteria that lie dormant along the spine resulting in inflammation and deformity.

Stress which causes reduced oxygen and circulation to the body can intensify the inflammation resulting in pain and misalignment. Everyone benefits from Raindrop Therapy because the spinal column contains nerves that feed the entire body.

Wonderfully soothing, nurturing and relaxing, Raindrop Therapy can work its benefits in the body for days to weeks or months after the application.

Reflexology (show details)
1 hour; $65.00

Reflexology (zone therapy) is an alternative medicine method involving the practice of massaging or applying pressure to parts of the feet, or sometimes the hands and ears, with the goal of encouraging a beneficial effect on other parts of the body, or to improve general health.

A natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet, hands and ears and their referral areas within zone related areas, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body.

Through application of pressure on these reflexes without the use of tools, crèmes or lotions, the feet being the primary area of application, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body.

A systematic review of the efficacy of reflexology found one study showing a statistically significant effect in the treatment of urinary symptoms in multiple sclerosis patients.

Relaxational (show details)
30 or 60 minutes; $40.00 or 55.00

Relaxational Massage is a smooth, gentle style of massage designed to improve circulation, range of movement, relief minor muscle pain, and promote overall relaxation. Most people don’t take enough time off for themselves anymore. It’s about time you’ve pampered yourself with a relaxation massage!

The massage consists of the therapist applying gentle to medium pressure of the hands to the body, gently manipulating the tissue to promote relaxation. It is not a deep tissue massage. It is not designed for working the deeper muscles of the body, but just a gentle kneading and rubbing of the outer layers of the body tissue. It will cover a wide range of areas on the body including the back, legs, arms and neck.

Many live their stressful lives day to day without taking any time off just for them. Everyone deserves a well needed moment of relaxation and this massage is just the right technique for that. It will relax your mind and body, giving you a break from the stress of your life.

The length of the massage will depend on how long you would like it to last. Typically the option is between half an hour and two hours in length. Massages are open to people of all ages.
